What, do you ask, can an Independent M.P. Do?
Income Guarantee:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill for a Minimum Income Guarantee to eliminate useless and costly bureaucracy, elevating individual dignity and promoting creativity, providing a basic income for those who are in need of welfare, employment insurance, affordable housing, disability benefits, etc. This bill would reduce costs of administering the aforementioned services, and would free up human resources, which could apply themselves to a more productive way of life that benefits the health of society and its prosperity.
Monetary Reform:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill to reform the process of borrowing money from private banks by government and utilizing the Bank of Canada instead, to eliminate the annual deficit. Canadians are paying over $85-million per day in interest on federal debt alone, which affects needed public services such as health care, affordable housing and needed support services, to name a few. And as a result we will only impoverish ourselves and our children, our grandchildren and their children’s children, if we don’t take action at this time.
Creation of Electoral Subdistrict Overseers and Investigators:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill to make public inquiries easy and ongoing between elections. In each electoral district there could be volunteers who are unaffiliated with any party, who are much closer and more accessible to voters, and who would be sufficiently empowered to oversee, investigate, and to hold the MP's accountable for their actions or lack thereof. They would be largely outside the control of the established mainstream political parties.
Social Cohesion:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill to promote community activities, facilitate access to basic necessities to elevate social interaction reducing policing by supervising and educating youths.
Fair Election:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill to remove party names from the ballots to create a fair playing field for candidates to connect with their constituents. An independent can also propose removing taxpayer subsidies for parties to buy excessive advertising of party - funding to avoid unfair influences of excessive advertising budgets, supplied by the parties under one brand such as Liberals, NDP, Conservatives, etc., so voters can vote based on the merit of their candidates, and not based on the name of the party.
Right to Recall:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill to empower constituents to call for bi-elections within the first 12 or 24 months if their elected MPs do not deliver what they promised or act differently than they were campaigning in office. Of course the majority of the electorate must sign petitions, with a majority being equal to the total number of votes earned by an MP plus one, with voting taking the form of online and/or hard copy.
Rewards for Voting:
An independent M.P. can introduce a bill to give a minimum of $5 in the form of a redeemable coupon to be accepted by businesses for everyone who casts his or her ballot on the election day to increase voter turnout and promote participation of citizens in an electoral process.
Negotiation:
An independent M.P. has leverage to assure budgets reflect his or her constituency, reduce poverty, and increase electorate voters’ quality of life, without being subject to a party’s policies.
This is the time for you to fire useless MPs.
Select, Elect and Hire a new MP.
Someone who reads a document before voting on it.
